Paid Video in the near Future?

It was only just a matter of time in my opinion -- I remember it wasn't that long ago that one CBC employee wanted to know (on Twitter) if people would watch streaming content live on YouTube.

A resounding yes from this writer! Can't wait. I don't understand why more and more TV content producers just don't go straight to the consumer and bypass the "networks". Might be better for all of us ...

Globalive is Approved!

Yay! This is great news for us Canadians who have one of the most overpriced cellphone plans in existence. This should create a more competitive atmosphere in terms of affordable cell phone plans going forward. Globalive says they can launch as early as this coming Monday.

Now we need to get some other carriers active to throw the field wide open!

Facebook privacy settings: What you need to know

Facebook has "adjusted" it's privacy settings. The default is to share with everyone, so I suggest that people do as the video suggests and review their personal settings. We don't want any surprises in the future, now do we?!

For about the same price point (or a little more) one can get his powerhouse with a 13" screen, Core 2 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, Bluetooth, Wireless G & N, Webcam & Mike; who needs a Netbook?! Heck a few more manufacturers make something similar and we may just see the end of the short lived netbook craze.

Maybe one of these will be under the tree for moi, XMAS morning (he says wistfully ...).

Sounds like the way urban yuppies eat healthy prepared gourmet meals. Imagine it's quite expensive. Available only in New York, although Leo Laporte [tech blogger] (http://bit.ly/LeoLaporte-personal-blog) is trying the diet and isn't he based in San Fran?

I'd like to try something similar to help me control my portions since there isn't a better half to nag me about it! LOL

HowtoForge Linux Tutorial WebSite

This is a new web site (to me) and it's refreshing to see a Linux tutorial site done this well. If you've ever browsed most Linux resources you'll know what I mean.

At first blush it seems quite comprehensive and covers the major Linux distributions (distros) as well as many of the major software found in GNU/Linux Apache, Backup Strategy & Implementation, DNS and well you get the drift.

If one is new to GNU/Linux, a system administrator or just someone that likes to get "under the hood"; This web site is a great resource. Well worth bookmarking!
